The short answer
Limestone above roughly 500 mm feed: jaw crusher first, impact crusher second. Feed already below 300 mm (blasted well, or rip-rap): impact crusher alone may do the whole job. The jaw is your insurance against big rock; the impact is your tool for shape.

Three questions before you choose
- What is your maximum feed size? Measure it at the quarry face, not in the middle of the pile. If any rock exceeds the impactor's inlet, you need a jaw ahead of it.
- What does the product spec say about flakiness? Road base often tolerates jaw-crushed material; concrete aggregate usually demands impact shaping.
- What is your abrasive index? Limestone with high silica content (chert bands) wears blow bars fast — send a sample and we will test it before recommending.
